Illness in Schools

Now that the flu season is in full swing, we would just like remind everyone of a few items.  First off, please help us fight the spread of the flu, not only at school, but also at home.  Tell your students to cover their cough and sneeze with their elbow and not their hands.  Did you know that an uncovered sneeze can expel thousands of droplets at a speed of  roughly 100 mph, with a range of up to 5 feet?  Also, make sure to remind them to wash their hands with soap and hot water several times throughout the day.  Also, tell them not to tough their eyes, nose, and mouth with unclean hands.  This is one way the flu virus and be spread.  You may want to give your students a bottle of hand sanitizer to keep in their locker to be used during they day, especially before lunch.  The CDC also has some helpful hint on the following website http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/preventing.htm .

Also, if your child is going to miss school due to illness, please remember to call and let the Jr. High office know before 9am.  If we do not hear from you, you will probably be getting a call from the office asking where your student is.

Thanks for the help and we hope everyone can stay away from the flu bug
